December 12, 2023How The Right Commercial Flooring Impacts Workplace Productivity
February 28, 2024In 2023, the world was set on getting back on track and returning to pre-pandemic normalcy.
With that, there was an increase in employees returning to the office, brick-and-mortar retail locations experienced an uptick, and many commercial areas returned to regular business hours and staffing levels. As a result, the commercial flooring industry was relied upon to outfit these commercial locations, and many of those trends are following us into 2024. Keep reading for the commercial flooring trends to watch this year.
Technology-Integrated Flooring
Technology-integrated flooring refers to flooring types optimized for the digital age. This includes products with LED lighting features, wireless charging capabilities, heated floors, and more options to streamline office and working environments through innovative ideas. The possibilities in this area are endless, and we may even see artificial intelligence (AI) make its presence in the industry more profound. Acoustic Flooring
More employees back in the workplace means more noise, and with the growing popularity of open-concept office spaces, acoustic flooring or flooring that helps manage noise is another expected trend for 2024. However, this is a trend we’ve been seeing for a few years now. Yet, in 2023, many corporations required employees to return to the office for a certain number of days a week; therefore, the expected increase in employees in the office will likely bring about office design renovations, such as layout changes that will require commercial flooring updates as well.
Carpet Tiles for Retail Locations
While hard surfaces are still primarily preferred over soft surfaces in commercial spaces, carpet tiles, in particular, are expected to maintain their growth as they did in 2023. According to an article by Flooring Covering News, carpet tiles made up 60% of soft surface sales last year. One area where carpet tiles are being used is in the retail market. With more retail stores opening their doors to in-person customers again, carpet tiles provide the inviting and warm aesthetic many stores are looking for, and their design versatility can be suited for nearly any commercial taste.
