The Importance of Scheduled Maintenance for Commercial Flooring
October 24, 2023Happy Holidays From CFIC!
December 12, 2023In the United States, an estimated 4 billion tons of carpet enters the waste stream each year.
While the commercial flooring industry has greatly improved product sustainability over the past few years, there is still room for improvement. That’s why, in addition to our sustainable product offerings, which you can learn more about in our blog, “Green Power: Eco-Friendly Flooring for Every Commercial Space,” we’re proud to partner with CarpetCycle. Continue reading to learn more about their mission.
What Is CarpetCycle?
CarpetCycle is a company working to find post-consumer uses for carpet and divert a valuable non-degradable/renewable resource from landfills. For over twenty-four years, CarpetCycle has provided services to remove, collect, and repurpose carpets from residential and commercial spaces. Their mission is what inspired us to get involved with CarpetCycle in order to repurpose some of the old carpets from our clients’ spaces so we could lessen our carbon footprint as a business and contribute to a greener industry.
Eco-Friendly Options
Carpet is typically the best option for office spaces, some school areas, churches, etc., yet some clients don’t realize the eco-friendly options available. Many carpet products, especially carpet tiles, have a broad range of products you can choose from that are made from sustainable volatile organic materials (VOCs) and are easily recyclable.
In addition to their work recycling carpets, CarpetCycle also has their own product through sister company, Quiet-Tech. Quiet-Tech is a high-performance acoustic batt insulation solution that maximizes your acoustic and thermal performance needs. It’s made from sustainable post-consumer recycled carpet and clothing fibers and is an excellent way to achieve “closed-loop” recycling for those looking to manage their carbon footprint.
